High Pressure Regulators, Single and Dual Stage

Cylinder regulators for high pressure specialty and industrial gases, in single stage and dual stage designs. Single stage units, including the Rotarex SC 280-380, SI 220 and S 400 series, suit applications where a small outlet pressure drift as the cylinder empties is acceptable. Dual stage units such as the DC 280-380 and D 230 series hold outlet pressure steady across the whole cylinder life, which matters for analytical instruments and long unattended runs. The S 800 series covers higher inlet pressures. If your process is sensitive to outlet pressure over time, dual stage. If it is not, single stage costs less and has fewer parts.

Common questions

What inlet pressure do these regulators take?
200 bar and 300 bar are the standard versions in this range, which covers normal UK cylinder pressures. The rating is stated on each product page. A regulator must never be fitted to a cylinder whose pressure is higher than its rated inlet, so the rating is the first figure to check and not the last.
How does a high pressure regulator hold its setting?
Gas from the cylinder pushes against a seat that is held by a spring working through a diaphragm or a piston. Turning the adjusting knob loads the spring, which opens the seat until the outlet pressure balances the spring force. As gas is drawn off, the seat opens further to keep that balance, which is what holds the outlet close to its setting while the cylinder empties.
Which of these can be used on oxygen?
Oxygen service is a property of the version rather than of the model name. It depends on the body material and, on several units, on the inlet pressure as well, so the same model can be suitable in one version and not in another. Where the manufacturer states the condition, we have put it on the product page under gas compatibility, in full rather than as a tag.
